Keswick's Theatre by the Lake has begun a major upgrade of its technical infrastructure for its 25th anniversary season.
The first phase of the project, which has received £67,885 from the UK Government through its UK Shared Prosperity Fund, includes installation of new LED lights and a sound desk, which will be used by local groups as well as for TBTL's own productions. The theatre aims to replace all incandescent lighting with LED fixtures as part of its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2037.
Four LED moving lights are soon to be purchased for the main house as well as portable LED fixtures and controls for the studio, which can also be used for touring rural venues across Cumbria. The sound desk is already installed and was first used on Keswick Amateur Operatic Society's production of The Sound of Music.
