From April to May, a series of Step Around Town performances featuring a variety of dance styles will take place in schools across Greater London in boroughs including Wandsworth, Westminster, Croydon, Camden, Haringey and Bexley.
Step Around Town is part of the Step into Dance programme for secondary school students established in 2006, a Royal Academy of Dance programme in partnership with the Jack Petchey Foundation.
Alexander Campbell, RAD's Artistic Director, said “the Step Around Town events epitomise the RAD’s ambition to showcase the power of dance and its transformative impact on young people. For the young people involved, the events are a wonderful opportunity to perform in front of a live audience and showcase the skills that they’ve learnt throughout the school year.”
Tickets to all Step Around Town events will be available on the door, where audiences are encouraged to make a donation. T
Performance will take place on 1 April at 6PM at The Grey Coat Hospital CofE Comprehensive School in Westminster, 29 April at 7PM at Hornsey School for Girls in Haringey, 1 May at 7PM at Coombe Wood School in South Croydon and 7 May at 7PM at Acland Burghley School in Camden.
There will be relaxed performances on 2 and 9 May at RAD's headquarters.
