Beverley Puppet Festival will bring shows to the streets and venues of the town in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Running from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 July, the biennial festival will feature free outdoor acts on Beverley's streets and Flemingate Centre as well as ticketed indoor shows at East Riding Theatre, Beverley Friary and Gardens, Beverley Masonic Hall and Toll Gavel Church.
Outdoor acts include Wandering Wizard by Wild Giant Arts, who explores our human world with his friend Glob the Goblin, along Toll Gavel and Tim Davies Design's inflatable Ocho the Octopus, while Dinosaurs and Dragons Alive can be seen along Butcher Row and at the Flemingate Centre.
At East Riding Theatre, Argentinian Veronica Gonzales, a star of America's Got Talent, will bring her foot puppet show Once Upon a Time Two Feet in which parts of the body transform into puppets. Breathe is a celebration of trees and nature with live folk music, while A Million Tiny Ants combines shadow-puppetry and songs. Pea from Nod at the Fox "aims to normalise non-nuclear family situations", and Hull's Indigo Moon will present its shadow theatre version of The Jungle Book.
There will be a workshop by Judith Hope, teaching adults, from professionals to enthusiasts, how to make simple animal rod puppets and a Puppet Trail will allow visitors to discover puppets in shop windows and businesses throughout the town centre.
