“Delighted and terrified”: John Elkington

Panto dame John Elkington is among 38 Nottingham Playhouse staff and supporters who will jump out of a plane to raise money for the theatre.

New Playhouse corporate sponsor Skydive Langar has organised a tandem skydive which will take place on Friday 24 May, weather permitting. The Playhouse’s artistic director Adam Penford and chair of the board Amanda Farr are among the volunteers for the skydive which will support the Playhouse’s Shine project to support young people’s creativity.

The theatre’s development and sponsorship manager, Jess Straub, said, “with the recent funding cuts by Nottingham city council, staff were keen to do something practical to help. We’re thrilled that so many have volunteered, and we’ve set our fundraising target at £15,000, which will significantly help support our work in the community through Shine.”

Elkington added, “it’s something that’s on my bucket list, so I’m delighted and terrified at the same time. But being given this opportunity to fulfil an ambition and to support the theatre and Shine is something I couldn’t pass up.”
