“Challenging ideologies”: Fur Coat No Knickers Theatre

Northamptonshire-based, female-led company Fur Coat No Knickers Theatre is holding a fundraising evening to develop its latest show, VANILLA.

Fur Coat No Knickers is an associate artist on Northampton Royal and Derngate’s Generate programme, which supports the development of local and regional artists.

The evening, at the Vulcan Works, Guildhall Road, Northampton on Saturday 27 April, will include performances of VANILLA and The Wandering Wombs of Hysterical Women. They include strong language, sexual scenes and themes of sexual violence.

The company is made up of Bethany Henshaw, Charlotte Snow and Jodie Kindell, three graduates from the University of Northampton.

As women in the creative industry, they “consider the exploration of female empowerment through performance and art essential to generate real change”. They “challenge the ideologies, gendered stereotypes, and social taboos that continue to hold women back”.

They are fundraising to develop VANILLA with the intention of hosting workshops with young adults around Northamptonshire to inform and influence the piece. This will then be toured around the UK.

Tickets can be booked at the Royal and Derngate web site and cost a minimum of £5 with an option to pay more.
