Lichfield Garrick has announced the schedule for its national tour of Michael Morpurgo’s Farm Boy, the sequel to War Horse.
The Garrick’s artistic director, Daniel Buckroyd, will direct Farm Boy. He first produced the show in 2010 for a tour that included a run in New York. Buckroyd brought the play to life again with a new cast in the Garrick’s studio in 2024 which was followed by a tour of Staffordshire villages.
The tour of Farm Boy features the 2024 cast, Alan Booty and Jonathan Houlston. Booty again steps into the role of Grandpa. Houlston returns as Grandson.
Composer is Matt Marks, musical direction and arrangements are by John Chambers. Set and costume design are by Fi Russell and lighting designer is Barry Smith.
Farm Boy opens at Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Saturday 22 March 2025. It will then tour to the Muni Theatre, Colne, New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth, the Swan Theatre, Worcester, Blackfriars Arts Centre, London’s Blackheath Halls, Theatre Royal, Winchester, Taunton Brewhouse, Chipping Norton Theatre, Beam, Hertford, artsdepot, London, The Old Town Hall, Hemel Hempstead, Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, Chelmsford Theatre Studio, Corn Exchange, Newbury, Norman Bradd Studio, Aylesbury, Albany Theatre, Coventry, The Hawth Crawley, Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, Quarry Theatre, Bedford, the Radlett Centre, Hertfordshire, Brewery Arts, Kendal, Fire Station, Sunderland, Hexham Queen’s Hall, The Duke’s, Lancaster, Chester Storyhouse, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, Redgrave Theatre, Bristol, Barnfield Theatre, Exeter, The Plough Arts Centre, Great Torrington, Devon, The Playhouse, Weston-super-Mare and the Queen’s Theatre, Barnstaple until 1 June.
