Birmingham Rep has announced the full cast and creative team for its adaptation of Bruce Robinson’s 1987 British tragi-comedy film Withnail And I.
Alongside the previously announced Robert Sheehan as Withnail, Adonis Siddique as Marwood and Malcolm Sinclair as Uncle Monty, the cast features Adam Young (Danny), Israel J Fredericks (Presuming Ed), Morgan Philpott (Wanker and Jake the Poacher), Matt Devitt (farmer, colonel and band), Adam Sopp (Geezer, policeman, band and musical director) and Sooz Kempner (Miss Blenehassitt, policewoman and band).
Sean Foley, Birmingham Rep’s artistic director, will direct, while Alice Power is the designer. Withnail And I will be adapted for the stage by Bruce Robinson, the writer and director of the film.
The rest of the creative team comprises Jessica Hung Han Yun (lighting designer), Ben and Max Ringham (sound and composition), Akhila Krishnan (video designer), Candida Caldicott (music supervision), Ginny Schiller (casting director), Alison de Burgh (fight director), Sara Joyce (associate director), Simon Marlow (production manager), Jennifer Taillefer (production environmental manager), Kay Wilton (costume supervisor), Robin Morgan (props supervisor) and Andriea Nelson (wigs supervisor).
Withnail And I will run at Birmingham Rep from Friday 3 until Saturday 25 May, with press night on Tuesday 14 May.
