Derby Festé, the city’s two-day outdoor entertainment festival, has been cancelled for 2024 because of “the cost-of-living crisis and rising overhead costs”.

Steve Slater, artistic director and chief executive of Derby dance venue Déda which runs Festé, said, “we understand the disappointment and frustration that this news may bring, especially considering the anticipation and excitement that typically surrounds Derby Festé.

“Please know that this decision was not taken lightly and we share in your disappointment. Festé holds a special place in our hearts and we’re deeply saddened that we’re unable to bring it to life this year.”

Festé will return in September 2025 and the team is “committed to ensuring that the festival remains a highlight of the cultural calendar, celebrating the arts, creativity and community spirit that define the city of Derby.”
