Dateline: 12th January, 2007
January to June at the Young Vic The Enchanted Pig continues until 27th January and then goes on tour to Northern Stage (Newcastle), Aldeburgh Music, Sheffield Lyceum and Richmond Theatre. The Soldiers' Fortune (16 February - 31 March) will be David Lan's first production back home on The Cut. He will direct Anne-Marie Duff, Ray Fearon and Oliver Ford Davies in this Restoration comedy by Thomas Otway. Generations (22 February - 10 March): a new play about life, death and absence from the writer of Stoning Mary and Born Bad. Through the exploration of three generations of a South African family, Debbie Tucker Green places the devastation facing families across the globe under a searing microscope. Directed by new Royal Court Associate Director Sacha Wares and starring Sello Maake Ka-Ncube (Who Killed Mr Drum and Othello - RSC) and veteran South African actress Nomlhe Nkonyeni, generations also features a 14-strong South African gospel choir led by the award-winning opera singer Pauline Malefane (U-Carmen eKhayelitsha - winner of the Golden Bear award, Berlin Film Festival 2005). The Brecht Fest (29 March - 05 May) comprises four short Brecht plays running concurrently in the two smaller theatres - The Maria and The Clare. Translations by Rory Bremner (A Respectable Wedding), Martin Crimp (The Jewish Wife), Biyi Bandele (Señora Carrar's Rifles) and Enda Walsh (How Much Is Your Iron). Vernon God Little (27 April - 09 June) is adirected by Rufus Norris and is an adaptation of DBC Pierre's Booker Prize winning book.
