On Tuesday and Wednesday, Nederlands Dans Theater 2 comes to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal with a programme of four works: Johan Inger’s I New Then, the UK premiere of mutual comfort by Romanian choreographer Edward Clug, Solo by Dutch choreographer Hans van Manen and Alexander Ekman’s Cacti. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, the National Theatre of Scotland, Edinburgh International Festival and the National Theatre of Great Britain co-production of The James Plays comes to the theatre: James I: The Key Will Keep The Lock at 11AM, James II: Day of the Innocents at 3PM and James III: The True Mirror at 7:30PM.

Opening Skinner’s Box continues at Northern Stage until Saturday.

Iris continues at Live Theatre until Saturday.

At Alphabetti from Tuesday to Friday, Cranked Anvil presents Romeo and Juliet. On Saturday it’s the monthly Alphabetti Soup which includes the new play Somebody's Bairn by Keith Henderson alongside music and spoken word performances.

The Gary Clarke Company presents Coal at Dance City on Friday and Saturday.

Billy Elliot the Musical continues at Sunderland Empire until Saturday.

On Thursday, Kelly-Abbott Dance Theatre presents Launch Day at Arts Centre Washington.

On Monday and Tuesday, Rumpus Theatre presents Father Brown at the Customs House in South Shields.

On Saturday at 2PM at The Maltings in Berwick, Shakespeare’s Globe and Seabright Productions present Shakespeare Untold: Romeo and Juliet retold through the eyes of the Capulet Ball's party planner and Titus Andronicus, as seen from the kitchen of Titus’ piemaker.

Part theatre performance, part cabaret tea party, An Odd Occasion from Irregular Arts in association with LittleMighty comes to ARC Stockton on Wednesday at 7PM.

Arabian Nights… and Days! is at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond on Saturday.

The three best shows from Birmingham’s BE Festival (plus an optional dinner) come to Harrogate Theatre on Tuesday, and then on Thursday and Friday Bryony Kimmings & Tim Grayburn perform Fake It 'til You Make It.
