From Tuesday to Saturday, the thriller Dead Simple comes to Newcastle’s Theatre Royal.

Phoenix Dance Company brings a mixed bill—Shadows and Shift by Christopher Bruce and new works by Sharon Watson, TearFall, and Caroline Finn, Bloom—to Northern Stage on Thursday.

Rendezvous, a celebration of the life and work of Julia Darling, runs at Live Theatre from Thursday until 6 June.

On Sunday, Alphabetti Theatre presents the May edition of their WriteBack series, script-in-hand performances of new short plays by emerging writers. The show begins at 6PM.

Middle Child Theatre ends Sunderland Stages 2014-2015 with Weekend Rockstars at North Shore, University of Sunderland’s Student Union on the St Peter’s Campus on Friday.

Young people take over the Customs House in South Shields from Monday to Friday with a mixture of workshops and performances in music, drama and dance.

On Wednesday at 11:30AM and 2PM, Half Moon presents Up in the Attic, a show for 3- to 6-year-olds at the Queen’s Hall in Hexham, and on Friday and Saturday in the Green Room Studio there is another BITESIZE production, I Told You This Would Happen.

Birmingham Royal Ballet brings a triple bill of Les Rendezvous, Kin and Elite Syncopations to Durham’s Gala on Friday and Saturday.

On Monday, Claire Sweeney stars in Sex in Suburbia at Billingham Forum and from Friday to Sunday at 1PM and 3PM it’s children’s show The Cat in the Hat.

This week’s ARCADE rehearsed reading at ARC Stockton on Wednesday is One Cold Night in November by Chrissie Petrie and at 11:30AM and 2:30PM Tutti Frutti presents Mike Kenny’s Rapunzel for age 3+.

BalletBoyz: The Talent comes to Darlington Civic on Tuesday and Sex in Suburbia follows on Wednesday.

At the Georgian Theatre Royal Murder One presents Murder one Night on Saturday.

Reform Theatre Company brings John Godber’s April in Paris to Harrogate Theatre’s Studio from Wednesday to Friday whilst on Friday and Saturday it’s the 2’s Company Festival, consisting of three plays for an audience of one in various locations: Somebody I Use to Know, The Fixer and Room.
