The National Theatre’s touring production of War Horse was the most successful show in the history of Stoke’s Regent Theatre, taking just over £1 million at the box office.

Demand for tickets for War Horse was “phenomenal”, says the theatre, with almost 30,000 people visiting the Regent to catch the show during its three-week run.

General manager Andrew Nicklin said, “War Horse has captured the hearts and the imaginations of people across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. The feedback we’ve received has been some of the best we’ve ever had for a show.”

Chris Harper, the producer of War Horse and managing director of National Theatre Productions, said, “we’re absolutely thrilled by the phenomenal reception that War Horse has had from audiences in Stoke-on-Trent.

“As the War Horse company members head off for Johannesburg, they take with them happy memories of their stay in Stoke-on-Trent.”
