Unfinished Histories, which records the history of alternative theatre in Britain, has launched a funding appeal to support future projects.
The organisation covers the period 1968-88 and uses interviews and collections of archive material to provide online study materials, exhibitions and live events about companies and artists whose innovative work defined generations of theatre makers.
Recently these have included the Re-Staging Revolutions exhibition, seen at Ovalhouse, Kentish Town Community Centre and Camden Local Studies and Archive Centre, together with six exhibition-related events.
The web site has become a valuable resource for researchers of British alternative theatre and a place where practitioners can document their alternative theatre work.
In the past, Unfinished Histories has received Heritage Lottery Funding and, whilst they are enjoying some success, they are launching a funding appeal to help develop and maintain their online and live projects.
