Point to Point

You can take a walk and an outdoor theatre trip in the Lake District at the same time, thanks to an innovative—and free—idea.

Point to Point is an audio theatre experience sited in Walla Crag, Keswick and following the route of one of Alfred Wainwright's celebrated fell walks.

It takes its audience on a very personal theatrical journey where the physical fell-walk is as important as the writing and soundscape, listened to on headphones at points along the route.

The brainchild of Louie Ingham, associate director at The Dukes in Lancaster, and sound designer and composer Mark Melville, it is written by Lee Mattinson.

Simply download the audio tracks and printable guide from the web site. It contains all the instructions you will need as well as tips for safety and comfort. It is available now and throughout the summer.

A fusion of words, music and sound design creates a new kind of theatre, to provide a fresh way to enjoy the classic Walla Crag fell walk.

It’s just one of four artistic creations which form Lakes Ignite, a project aimed at highlighting the rich cultural life of the Lake District. All are based around a theme of imaginary journeys.
