Stewart Attacks Hollywood's "Culture of Violence"

Patrick Stewart has attacked Hollywood's "culture of violence", highlighting the work of Qunetin Tarantino in particular. He described Tarantino's film Kill Bill as "deeply offensive."

"I condemn utterly films like Kill Bill, which we are told are empowering women," he said. "But they are apparently empowering women to kill other women, which was the message that I took from the film."

Stewart was speaking at the launch of an Amnesty International campaign about violence against women.

He revealed that he has personal experience of the problem, having watched his father beating up his mother. "Violence against women diminishes us all," he added. "If you fail to raise your hand in protest, you are part of the problem."
