Romeo and Juliet

Birmingham Royal Ballet brings Romeo and Juliet to Salford for Shakespeare 400, featuring dance talent from Liverpool and Lancashire.

Kenneth MacMillan’s acclaimed production will be commemorating 400 years since the playwright’s death.

A cast of more than 50 dancers includes James Barton, who grew up in Liverpool and has danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet since 2006. He takes on the role of Romeo’s best friend, Mercutio.

Yvette Knight, from Carnforth in Lancashire, dances the role of Rosaline, the subject of Romeo’s unrequited love before he meets Juliet.

For younger audiences, BRB also presents First Steps: The Dream. This specially designed hour-long interactive presentation introduces children aged three to seven to ballet and live performance featuring a full orchestra and cast of dancers.

The production runs at The Lowry from March 2 to March 5.
