Queer Contact, the annual Manchester celebration of LGBT arts and culture, is the largest to date next year. It includes the New York performer Justin Bond and British soul singer David McAlmont. It also features new Contact commissions from Kate O’Donnell and Eggs Collective.
That’s followed by SICK!—working with the NHS, universities and clinics, it showcases major international artists exploring pressing issues of health and wellbeing.
The centrepiece at Contact is the remarkable and moving show from India, Nirbhaya, that has become internationally renowned for tackling the issue of violence against women.
The new young company show, Sexology, directed by Stacy Makishi, is also part of the SICK! programme.
The rest of the season includes renowned theatre maker Tim Crouch, Liverpool’s 20 Stories High, comic Gina Yashere and rising star of the dance world Aakash Odedra in his first Contact visit.
