Jodie Prenger

Oliver! Casting

Casting for Cameron Mackintosh's revival of Oliver!, which opens on 14th January, 2009 (previews from 12th December, 2008) at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, has been announced.

On Saturday 31st May Jodie Prenger won the reality TV competition I'd Do Anything and so she will play Nancy. She joins Gwion Jones, Harry Stott and Laurence Jeffcoate, the three boys who were chosen earlier in the TV series to share the role of Oliver, and the previously announced Rowan Atkinson, who will play Fagin.

Burn Gorman will play Bill Sikes (Pool (no water) and Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat, both by Mark Ravenhill on stage and Bleak House and Torchwood on TV) and Rosemary Leach plays Mrs Bedwin and Julian Bleach (Antony and Cleopatra and The Tempest for the RSC) plays Mr Sowerberry.

Based on Sam Mendes' 1994 Palladium production, the show will be directed by Rupert Goold, with choreography (and co-direction) by Matthew Bourne, set design by Anthony Ward, lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Paul Groothuis.

Open auditions will be held in London on 14th June to find the Artful Dodger and other members of Fagin’s gang of boys.
