Dreamers

A brand new all-female musical with a mix of original songs and ‘90s classics, Dreamers tells the story of small town nights with big hearts and glorious female friendships.

It runs at Oldham Coliseum Theatre from June 19 to July 4.

Every weekend, a group of young girls shake off the weekly grind with a messy night on the town. One thing they know is they'll end up in the smallest nightclub in the world with the biggest tunes.

The all-female cast features Sally Carman, a regular in Shameless as Kelly Maguire and in Prisoners’ Wives as Kim Haines; Rachel Austin, who has played Sophie Lancaster opposite Julie Hesmondhalgh since 2012 on both stage and screen in Black Roses : The Killing of Sophie Lancaster; Olivier Award nominee Rachel Leskovac (nominated for Best Actress in a Musical, Spend Spend Spend, 2000) who has been seen regularly on television in Happy Valley and Coronation Street; and Coliseum pantomime regular Justine Elizabeth Bailey. The production will also feature a community choir of 16 women.

Dreamers was an actual nightclub in Oldham that closed its doors in 2000. Writers Lindsay Williams and Cathy Crabb frequented the club in the late ‘80s to early ‘90s, not knowing each other at the time but fond of the place for the same reasons.

Carol Donaldson has composed several original songs, and the show also uses anthemic indie music from the ‘90s including The Smiths, The Cure, The Waterboys and James.
