Northampton stages Oklahoma! before national tour

Oklahoma!: playing at four Midlands theatres

Northampton’s Royal and Derngate is to stage a new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Oklahoma!, which will visit three other Midlands theatres on a national tour.

Belinda Lang will play Aunt Eller, Gary Wilmot will be Ali Hakim, Ashley Day takes the role of Curly, Charlotte Wakefield will be Laurey and Nic Greenshields will play Jud Fry.

Former artistic director of Birmingham REP Rachel Kavanaugh will direct while Drew McOnie will be in charge of choreography.

The show will be accompanied by a live orchestra led by musical director Steve Ridley. Set and costumes will be designed by Francis O’Connor, with lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Ben Harrison.

Oklahoma! will open at Derngate, Northampton from 19 until 28 February 2015 and its tour will take in Wolverhampton Grand from 3 until 7 March, Nottingham’s Theatre Royal from 28 April until 2 May and Birmingham Hippodrome from 30 June until 4 July.
