Nativity at the Scoop

Award-winning director Phil Willmott revives his boisterous modern-dress reworking of the medieval Nativity plays, to celebrate Christmas in the Scoop at More London. Conceived to engage audiences of all beliefs, this is a story of ordinary people confronting great good and great evil to emerge triumphant.

The Scoop at More London amphitheatre has now firmly established itself as a major London venue for theatre, music and film. Since 2003, The Steam Industry has performed a number of critically acclaimed productions including The Caucasian Chalk Circle and Cyclops! earlier this year. Previous productions include Treasure Island, Androcles and the Lion, Agamemnon and Oedipus. Glowing reviews and More London's policy of providing top quality shows for free has resulted in thousands of regular and first time play-goers enjoying the productions side-by-side, becoming London's most culturally diverse theatre audience.

For Christmas 2006 Phil Willmott returns to re-stage a unique open-air event - a pacey, thought-provoking, hilarious and moving modern-dress staging of the beautiful medieval Nativity plays - presented with the company's trademark blend of wit, drama, comedy, puppetry and live music, in keeping with the lively and accessible style in which these pieces were first performed.

The play will be performed what ever the weather. Audiences are advised to wrap up warmly and bring an umbrella!

It runs from Wednesday 20th - Saturday 23rd December at 6.30pm and on Christmas Eve, Sunday 24th December at 2.30pm. There is no need to book.
