Newcastle's Live Theatre is the big winner of the Journal Culture Awards 2013, organised annually by the regional newspaper, The Journal.
The theatre's production of Wet House won two awards: Performance of the Year and Writer of the Year for playwright Paddy Campbell. Also a winner was actor Joe Caffrey for his performances in Wet House and Lee Hall's Cooking with Elvis, both at Live.
Two other awards of theatrical interest made on the night were the Arts Council Award which went to the Foghorn Requiem, which was co-produced by the Customs House in South Shields, and the Best Event Tyneside was won by The Iron Age Festival, organised by Iron Press which is run by poet, playwright and BTG reviewer, Peter Mortimer.
The event, at the Sage in Gateshead, was hosted by another Live Theatre actor, Chris Connell, who also appeared in Wet House.
