Lampedusa

Lampedusa receives its world première in a High Tide–Soho Theatre co-production next month in London.

Playing the Soho Theatre from 8 April, the two–hander is a response to the 4,000 people who drowned last year trying to get to Europe in rickety migrant boats and the UK government's withdrawal of support for the main rescue programme.

From the pen of award-winning political writer Anders Lustgarten, Lampedusa tells the story of two Europes: one that people are desperate to enter, and one that people are desperate to keep for themselves.

HighTide artistic director Steven Atkinson directs Louise Mai Newberry and Ferdy Roberts.

Lampedusa is part of Soho Theatre’s Season of Politics; it runs from 8 to 26 April and is suitable for ages 14+.
