More from Kneehigh Kneehigh Theatre has announced its plans for November through to June next year. Its national tour of Cymbeline, which was due to end on 28th October in Truro has had two more dates added. It will now run at the Lyric, Hammersmith, from 17th January to 3rd February and then at Birmingham Rep from 6th to 10th February. The company is reviving Journey to the Centre of the Earth from Tuesday (7th November) for a 28 venue tour, mainly of the West Country, through to 23rd December. Vast underground caverns, rivers of lava, giant prehistoric creatures, lost civilizations and the legendary city of Atlantis - all this and more arerecreated in village halls and other venues, using puppets, shadow play, live music, physical comedy and Kneehigh's inimitable storytelling style.
From Saturday 9th December to Sunday 14th January it will present the BAC Christmas show, Rapunzel. A desperate father whispers gently to his baby daughter "I will never forget you, I love you", as he abandons her beneath a rapunzel plant .. The production uses puppetry and live music: a story for for wide-eyed adults and brave children. Suitable for ages 7 and up. Then in the spring of 2007, Kneehigh embarks on its most ambitious theatre project to date. Commissioned by the National Theatre, Emma Rice and Tom Morris will adapt and re-imagine A Matter of Life and Death, the seminal 1945 movie by Powell and Pressburger. Sexy, stylish and musically electrifying, Emma Rice will direct this romantic masterpiece for the 21st Century for the Olivier Theatre stage. The first preview will be on 3rd May and the production will in rep until 30th June. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
