Anita and Me runs at Birmingham REP from 9 until 24 October

Birmingham REP is looking for volunteers to join a community acting company to appear in the world première of Meera Syal’s Anita And Me.

Directed by the REP’s artistic director Roxana Silbert and adapted for the stage by Tanika Gupta, Anita And Me paints a portrait of village life in the West Midlands during the 1970s—the era of flares, power cuts and glam rock.

Extras are required to appear in the crowd scenes alongside the professional actors. The parts will be non-speaking roles.

Volunteers must be aged 16 and above. The REP is looking specifically for men and women aged 16 to 30 and women aged at least 40.

Anyone interested should be able to commit to the production from 7 September until 24 October. To register your interest, e-mail [email protected]. There will be an informal workshop at the REP at the beginning of August.
