Bantams at Hyde Festival Theatre

Hyde Festival Theatre Company is bringing Rob Johnston’s specially-commissioned First World War play Bantams to Hyde Festival Theatre from Tuesday September 30 to October 4.

It will then tour to Glossop, Chester, Stockport, Oldham, Preston and Lytham St Annes with further venues under consideration.

Performances in Stockport will have a particular significance, as they will take place in The War Memorial and Art Gallery.

Inspired initially by stories from The Manchester Regiment and a major event back home in Ashton-under-Lyne, Bantams tells the story of men who could have stayed out of The Great War but chose not to.

As part of the company’s work with local schools and community groups, there will also be a special evening of community/school performances with the title The Last Post on Monday September 29 at Hyde Festival Theatre.
