Hot stuff: Derby Theatre will improve its heating and ventilation system

Arts Council England is giving Derby Theatre £484,894 to make it greener to reduce long-term costs.

The money will be used to make essential upgrades to the theatre’s heating and ventilation system, making the building more comfortable for audiences, actors and staff.

Peter Knott, Arts Council England’s area director, said, “we’re delighted to be investing in plans to make sure Derby Theatre is fit for the future. By helping to make the buildings more economically and environmentally sustainable, we hope to see our investment support the region’s creative economy.”

The theatre’s artistic director and chief executive Sarah Brigham added, “the money will go towards creating a state-of-the-art ventilation and heating system which will allow us to meet our environmental expectations and also deliver a 21st century audience and visitor experience. We’re pleased the Arts Council has shown confidence by supporting us in this way.”
