This month, a number of shows have been announced for the new year.

Amongst these are the transfer of Hampstead Theatre’s production of Di and Viv and Rose to the West End's Vaudeville Theatre.

Running from 22 January, Amelia Bullmore’s funny and insightful comedy about female friendship has Tamzin Outhwaite reprising her role as Di with Samantha Spiro as Viv and Jenna Russell as Rose.

Also in January, Sell A Door Theatre embarks on a national tour of Alan Bennett's multi–award winning The History Boys.

This comic masterpiece was voted the nation's favourite play in a survey conducted by English Touring Theatre and this production makes 200 free tickets available for first-time theatregoers.

The Tour Visits Southend, Coventry, Brighton, Hull, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Ipswich, Cheltenham, Portsmouth, Bromley, Londonderry, Exeter, Swindon, York and Malvern.

February sees Janie Dee lead the cast in a new production of 84 Charing Cross Road at the Salisbury Playhouse where the play was premièred in 1981.

The book by Helene Hanff has been adapted for the stage by James Roose-Evans, who will direct.

Shakespeare's Measure For Measure is presented at the Barbican centre in April in a co-production from Cheek by Jowl and the Pushkin Theatre, Moscow with the Barbican, London, Les Gémeaux / Sceaux / Scène Nationale and Centro Dramático Nacional, Madrid (INAEM).

Declan Donnellan directs an international cast in this production which is suitable for those aged 16 and over.

Puppetry of the Penis is back to do its weird and wonderful thing at Margate Winter Gardens in March.

This display of the Ancient Art of Genital Origami first became a hit at the 1998 Melbourne International Comedy Festival; since then it has successfully toured across the world.

In case it is not sufficiently apparent, Puppetry of the Penis is a non-sexual show featuring full frontal male nudity. You're NUTS if you miss it, as it were!

Shows extending and booking into next year include perennial favourite War Horse, now booking to October and this month saw a further 100,000 seats go on sale for another National Theatre hit, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which is taking bookings to May.

Long runner Thriller Live has further extended its booking period to September, whilst Sunny Afternoon, which hasn’t yet opened, has extended its run until the end of January. This new musical is based on the early life of Ray Davies and the rise to stardom of band, The Kinks.
