Tennexa Freeman has been appointed writer and producer-in-residence at Birmingham venue The Drum.

She began writing aged 15, using experiences from her everyday life in her plays. But due to the death of her mother she took a break to obtain a degree in international business management at the Telford School of Business.

Now a full-time playwright, producer and director, Freeman has been responsible for productions including Babymothers and Bashment Housewives.

She will be working with The Drum, “the UK’s premier intercultural arts centre”, over the rest of 2016 on two new productions.
