Coventry venue Warwick Arts Centre’s new season will be a 40th birthday celebration packed full of “the very best theatre, dance and entertainment”.

Matt Burman, head of programme and audiences, said, “Warwick Arts Centre has been bringing brilliant artists from around the world to Coventry and hosting thrilling and entertaining nights here since 1974.

“We’re celebrating 40 years as one of the country’s leading and most distinctive cultural spaces with a programme filled with shows to make you laugh, cry and think differently about the world around you.”

Forced Entertainment, celebrating its 30th birthday, headlines the theatre programme with the UK premiere of The Last Adventures, presented by Warwick Arts Centre in association with Fierce Festival. It runs from 1 until 3 October.

A cast of local children will also perform a rehearsed reading of Forced Entertainment’s That Night Follows Day, written by Tim Etchells, on 29 October.

Out of Joint’s Pitcairn, a new play by Richard Bean, tells the story of the mutineers from HMS Bounty. It visits Warwick Arts Centre from 21 until 24 October.

The Lyric Hammersmith’s Secret Theatre Company presents a selection of its shows, from A Streetcar Named Desire (11 until 14 November) to new writing from Mark Ravenhill in Show 6 (13 until 15 November and also 22 November).

Popular Warwick Arts Centre music regulars Ladysmith Black Mambazo return with Inala, a Zulu ballet with dancers from the Royal Ballet. The show, on 30 September, “embraces an exhilarating fusion of South African and western cultures, delivering a spiritually uplifting and beautiful storytelling experience live on stage”.
