Making a song and dance about the war on terror

George Bush and Tony Blair will be the stars of a new satirical musical at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Alistair Beaton's Follow My Leader will make a song and dance about the war on terror from March 26th to April 10th.

Described as an "hilarious, savage and thought-provoking satire", Follow My Leader follows the development of the war on terror from 9/11 right up to the present day and asks awkward questions about whether Britain is a faithful poodle of the United States.

Jason Durr will play Tony Blair and Stuart Milligan will be George Bush. The cast includes Peter Polycarpou, Sevan Stephan as Clare Short and Paul J Medford who will also choreograph the show.

Mark Clements directs and music is by Richard Blackford.

Turn again - it's panto time in Nottingham

Panto season has only just finished but Nottingham Theatre Royal is already planning this year's seasonal offering.

Dick Whittington will run for six weeks from December 10th until January 23rd.

Head of marketing, sales and development Jonathan Saville said: "We've had a great number of inquiries already about this year's pantomime from patrons who attended our production of Cinderella.

"In previous years we've found that certain performances during our peak Christmas period have sold out before the summer is over, so we want to give everyone an equal opportunity to book their preferred date."

The cast will be announced in the summer.

Extra date for the Funjabis

The Funjabis have added an extra date at Wolverhampton's Arena Theatre as their new show Lovin' a Sorna Gora has sold out. They will now be performing on Friday, March 26th as well as Saturday, March 27th.

The show is a "comedy combo of Asian stand-up, sitcom, songs and sketches that tell the story of the penny-pinching Mucky Singh's struggle to get his fifth daughter married in the cheapest manner possible!"
