Antony and Cleopatra
A review of the production starring Helen Mirren and Alan Rickman. Enthusiastic about Mirren, damning of Rickamn. Not a professional critic, but agrees with the pros!

A Midsummer Night's Dream (Review)
The "Evening Standard" review (by Nicholas de Jongh) of the Albery production starring Dawn French as Bottom. The concept of the play struck him with "all the force of a limp gimmick"!
A Midsummer Night's Dream (Review 2)
The same "Dream" (Dawn French as Bottom) but Benedict Nightingale of the "Times" liked it a bit better.
The Original Shakespeare Company
Actors in Shakespeare's day, it appears, never saw the complete script of a play - they only has their own words, plus two or three words as cues. Nor did they rehearse with the rest of the cast - the first time they came together was on the first performance. The Original Shakespeare Company attempts to recreate the original way of working. This site explains how. Fascinating!

scholars, theatregoers and anyone interested in Shakespeare in performance.
Part of the RSC's website, but definitely worthy of a separate listing!
Shakespeare in Love
The official site for the film. It's included here because it's a good film and because there's a lot of Romeo and Juliet in it - and well performed too! An interesting site, with some interesting comments by the stars.
The Almeida's "Tempest"
Nicholas de Jong's review of the last production at the Almeida (December 2000) before its redevlopment. From the "Evening Standard".
