Calling All Birmingham Amateurs!Dateline: 1st December, 2002The Maverick Theatre Pantomime Needs You! (Oh Yes They Do!) Dance troupes, bands, youth organisations and musicians are being sought for Birmingham's first Professional Community Pantomime. The award-winning Maverick Theatre Company is presenting their first pantomime, Cinderella, at Birmingham Library Theatre this Christmas. And they want amateur performers throughout the Midlands to be involved in the show and work alongside the professional cast. Director Nick Hennegan explains. "We're looking for individuals or groups to come to Cinderella at the Library Theatre in Birmingham and take part in the ballroom scene. Any act of between 3 to 10 minutes will be welcomed. I'd like to hear from Irish or Asian dancing schools, for instance, or Boys Brigade, Scout Bands, drama schools, ballet, line- dancing or disco dance teams. All will be welcome. They can perform just for 1 night or for the whole run. We've always broken theatre rules and although there's some great Panto's in Birmingham I want Maverick's to be the friendliest. And one way of achieving this is to invite the local community to be in the show. And the fact that the people behind the Tweenies are helping us means it should be a real hoot!" Interested parties should contact Nick Hennegan at Maverick Theatre on 0121-444 0933 or E-mail nick@mavericktheatre.com. |
